Arni-Islisberg is a former municipality in the Bremgarten district of the Swiss canton of Aargau . It was formed in 1803 after the canton was founded from the villages of Arni and Islisberg . In 1983 the community was separated again into its original components.
history
In the second half of the 20th century , the residents of Islisberg felt more and more marginalized by the rapidly growing Arni, although they were able to make independent decisions about tax matters, the school system and the building industry. In 1974 they called for the formation of an independent community in a consultative vote . The Grand Council (cantonal parliament) initially rejected this in 1978 because there was no legal basis for it yet. In 1981 the separation was decided, which a year later was confirmed without opposition by the Grand Council and carried out on January 1, 1983.
The separation of this rather small community is remarkable, as the number of community mergers in Switzerland has increased sharply in recent decades . Since 2000, there has also been an increasing trend towards community mergers in Aargau.
