Arthur von Lindequist

Arthur Axel Heinrich August von Lindequist (born October 17, 1855 in Wostevitz on Rügen , † November 1, 1937 in Berlin ) was a Prussian lieutenant general in the First World War .

Life

origin

Arthur was a son of the farmer Olof von Lindequist (1824-1902) and his wife Anna, née Hoffmann (1834-1909). His brother Friedrich (1862–1945) was governor of German South West Africa .

Military career

Lindequist came after his education in the cadet corps on 23 April 1874 as an ensign in the first Grand Ducal Hessian Infantry (Guards) Regiment. 115 of the Prussian army in Darmstadt and was there on October 12, 1875 to second lieutenant promoted. For three years, starting May 1, 1882, Lindequist was assigned to the Kulm Cadet House as an educator . After his return and service in his main regiment, he was promoted to prime lieutenant on November 12, 1885 . As such, he acted from January 1, 1888 to December 31, 1889 as adjutant of the Darmstadt I district command. On November 18, 1890, while being promoted to captain , he took over a company in his main regiment.

Lindequist became commander of the 1st Hanoverian Infantry Regiment No. 74 on August 9, 1910 . On August 17, 1913, he was entrusted with the leadership of the 40th Infantry Brigade in Braunschweig and then on October 1, 1913, at the same time as his promotion to major general , he was appointed commander of this large unit .

During the First World War, Lindequist led the brigade in the 2nd Army . In Namur he was severely wounded on August 23, 1914 and therefore made available from 31 August. After he was able to serve again, Lindequist was appointed on December 19, 1914, commander of the 87th Reserve Infantry Brigade. On June 29, 1915, he took over the 3rd Guard Division . In this position he was promoted to lieutenant general on November 6, 1917 and awarded the order Pour le Mérite on December 23, 1917 . On February 8, 1918, he was commissioned to lead the XIV Reserve Corps and then on June 15, 1918 to lead the VII Reserve Corps .

For his achievements during the defensive battle at Reims , Lindequist received the oak leaves for the Pour le Mérite on November 7, 1918. After the war he was on 17 December 1918. Disposition made and eventually retires on 21 January 1920th

Lindequist was a legal knight of the Order of St. John .

family

Lindequist married Lili von Hahn (* 1865) in Darmstadt on June 8, 1891. The daughter Anka (1893–1977) emerged from the marriage and married Eberhard Kurt Felix von Briesen (1878–1958) in 1921.
