Asakura ( Japanese 朝 倉 市 , -shi ) is a city in Fukuoka Prefecture in Japan .

Asakura is south of Kitakyushu and southeast of Fukuoka .
history
When the Korean ally of Japan, Baekje , was subjugated by Silla and Tang-China , the Saimei - tennō provided military aid for its re-establishment and in 661 relocated the seat of government, and thus the capital of Japan , due to the proximity of Asakura to Korea the Asakura Tachibana Hironiwa Palace ( 朝 倉 橘 広 庭 宮 , Asakura no tachibana no hironiwa no miya ).
