Ash vs Evil Dead is an American comedy - horror - television series based on the film The Evil Dead by Sam Raimi . The series name goes back to the original title of the template, Evil Dead . The series is produced by Rick Jacobson and Charles Knight . The first broadcast has been in the United States since October 31, 2015 on the cable channel starz . On August 2, Amazon announced that it would make the series available on Amazon Video starting September 1, 2016 . Just three days before the premiere, starz ordered a second season for the series, which has been broadcast since October 2, 2016. On October 7, 2016 at New York Comic Con, the extension for a third season was announced, which began on February 25, 2018 at starz. The series was nominated three times in a row for the Saturn Award in the category Best Horror Series in 2016-2018 and as of October 21, 2019 is the best rated zombie series on Rotten Tomatoes.

The series takes place thirty years after the events of the original film and is a sequel to this and the two other parts Dance of the Devils II - Now there is more dancing and Army of Darkness . Bruce Campbell takes on the lead role again as Ash Williams .

30 years after the events of the movies, Ash releases the evil from the Necronomicon again under the influence of alcohol and other drugs . Now a demonic plague threatens to destroy all humanity. Only Ash (the chosen one) is able to stop this threat. He gets help from his colleague at the mall where he works in the meantime. Pablo leads Ash to his shaman's uncle, who helps him understand the evil book Necronomicon . A trail of corpses follows Ash on his way to the hut where it all began 30 years ago.

The synchronization was carried out by Scalamedia GmbH in Berlin . The dialogue book was written by Frank Schröder and Heinz Burghardt , who also directed the dialogue.

At San Diego Comic-Con 2014 , Sam Raimi announced that he was working on a television series for Evil Dead . The script was written by Raimi, his brother Ivan Raimi and Bruce Campbell . The series is supposed to tell the story of Ash Williams from the films. The first season comprises 10 episodes, each about 30 minutes in length. Three days before the premiere of the first season, the series was extended for a second season. Like the first season, the second also comprises 10 episodes, each around 30 minutes in length. After broadcasting the first episode of the second season, the series was extended for a third season. On April 20, 2018, it was announced that the series would be discontinued after the third season.
