Career

Rome began his ice hockey career in the Western Hockey League with the Moose Jaw Warriors , Red Deer Rebels and the Kamloops Blazers . He was drawn twice in the National Hockey League Entry Draft , first in 2004 by the Boston Bruins , and again in 2006 by the San Jose Sharks after the Bruins did not sign him.

Rome began his professional career with the Worcester Sharks in the American Hockey League , where he played from 2006 to 2008. In the 2008/09 season he was transferred to the East Coast Hockey League after only three games with the Phoenix Road Runners , but also played six games for the Toronto Marlies . In the 2009/10 season he played 21 games for the Marlies (AHL), 39 games for the Idaho Steelheads (ECHL) and returned to the AHL at the end of the season, where he won the Calder Cup , the AHL Championship, with the Hershey Bears . won. After the title could not be defended in the following season, Rome moved to the Portland Pirates .

After only five games for the Greenville Road Warriors , Rome moved to Düsseldorfer EG in the German Ice Hockey League on October 25, 2012, where he received a match penalty after just 5 minutes in his first game.

On February 6, 2014, the Düsseldorfer EG announced that Ashton Rome had asked the club management to terminate the contract at the end of the 2013/2014 season for personal reasons, despite the contract extension to 2015 that had taken place only a few weeks beforehand, which was agreed by mutual agreement.

In 2014 the Schwenninger Wild Wings announced that they had signed Rome. He completed his second season for the Black Forests in the 2015/16 season. In March 2016 his departure from Schwenningen was announced, and the Iserlohn Roosters announced his commitment the following month . In Iserlohn, the newcomer became assistant captain at the beginning of the season . However, he could not justify this trust and, after disagreements, was no longer part of the Roosters squad from October 2016. On December 12, 2016, his contract was terminated. Four days later, Rome signed a contract with the Manchester Monarchs in the ECHL and spent the rest of the season there. He then joined the newly formed Worcester Railers in the same league.
