Atlantic Beach is a city in Duval County in the US state of Florida with 12,655 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Atlantic Beach is located directly on the Atlantic Ocean and borders the cities of Jacksonville and Neptune Beach .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 12,655 inhabitants were distributed over 6,174 households. The population density was 1304.6 inh / km². 82.5% of the population identified themselves as whites , 10.8% as African American , 0.5% as Indians and 1.9% as Asian Americans . 1.5% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 2.8% to several ethnic groups. 5.4% of the population was Hispanic or Latino .

In 2010 children under the age of 18 and 29.2% of all households lived in 25.3% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 60.8% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 2.29 people and the average family size was 2.82 people.

21.9% of the population were younger than 20 years, 23.4% were 20 to 39 years old, 30.3% were 40 to 59 years old, and 24.4% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 44 years. 48.2% of the population were male and 51.8% were female.

The median annual income was $ 65,441, with 10.5% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the first language of 93.36% of the population, 4.49% spoke Spanish and 2.15% had another mother tongue.
