August Ferdinand von Arnauld de la Perière (born March 27, 1786 in Elbing , † February 24, 1863 in Schmiedeberg ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

August Ferdinand was the son of the Prussian major general Johann Gabriel Arnauld de la Perière (1731-1810) and his second wife Wilhelmine Maria Margarethe Karoline, born von Brandt (1759-1796).

Military career

Arnauld visited the cadet houses in Kulm and Berlin . On March 26, 1801, he was employed as a private corporal in the Kalkreuth infantry regiment of the Prussian Army . There he was appointed ensign on April 9, 1803 . Arnauld took part in the campaign against France in 1806/07 and during this time came in mid-December 1806 as a second lieutenant in the East Prussian reserve battalion. After the defeat of Prussia and the Peace of Tilsit, he remained active in the army and was transferred to Colberg's Infantry Regiment No. 9 in August 1808 . As a prime lieutenant he was commanded in July 1811 to serve with the general staff. Added the following year here, Arnauld was on October 21, Staff Captain and as such in 1813 the staff of the 8th Brigade under Lieutenant-General Hünerbein added. He took part in the battles near Katzbach , Leipzig , Laon and Waterloo during the Wars of Liberation in 1813/15 . His achievements were honored by the award of both classes of the Iron Cross , the Order of the Holy Vladimir IV Class and the Oak Leaves to the Order Pour le Mérite .

As a major , Arnauld was on March 30, 1818 battalion commander in the 35th Infantry Regiment . Two years later he was transferred to the 38th Infantry Regiment , where he was promoted to lieutenant colonel on June 18, 1825 . In December 1830 initially charged with the command of the 7th Infantry Regiment , Arnauld was appointed colonel on March 30, 1831 and finally appointed regimental commander on February 10, 1832. From March 30, 1837 to July 5, 1843 he acted as commander of the 12th Infantry Brigade. In the meantime promoted to major general on March 30, 1838 , he was then appointed commander of the Cosel Fortress , and then as Lieutenant General on May 15, 1845, he was appointed commander of the Glatz Fortress .

The city of Glatz granted Arnauld honorary citizenship in 1848 . On August 1, 1849, he took his leave with the statutory pension .

In 1808/09 he devoted himself to popular education in the Königsberg Tugendbund .
