Johann Gabriel Arnauld de la Perière (born September 4, 1731 in Saint-Plantaire , Bourges district , † December 18, 1810 in Neidenburg ) was a Prussian major general , leader of the Free Regiment No. 2 and brigadier of the light infantry.

Johann Gabriel was the son of the French captain of the infantry Léonard Bernhard Arnauld de la Perière and his wife Claudine nee. Depont († December 9, 1770). His father was Seigneur de la Perrière and Knight of the Order de la Générosité .

Military career

Like his father, Arnauld was initially in French military service and from September 9, 1747 was a Sous-lieutenant in the Bombardier company. On February 1, 1754, he was promoted to lieutenant . After a duel he had to flee, entered Prussian service and was hired as a captain in the free battalion " Graf von Hordt ". There he led a company and distinguished himself in the Seven Years' War . After the peace he joined the king's entourage. In 1773 he became major in the “von Lengefeld” fusilier regiment No. 52 in West Prussia . On May 22, 1775 he became lieutenant colonel and on November 28, 1778 colonel . In 1786 he was assigned a newly established infantry regiment in Konitz . The regiment itself was stationed in Konitz, Friedland and Tuchel. On May 20, 1787 he was promoted to major general. At the end of the month he was appointed brigadier of the light infantry in West Prussia. Arnauld took over on February 6, 1789, the West Prussian newly formed Fusilier - Brigade .

On April 13, 1791, Arnauld retired due to illness with a pension of 1000 thalers . This pension was increased to 1500 thalers on May 10, 1791. After the Peace of Tilsit , on September 7, 1807, savings resulted in their halving.

Arnauld was married three times and had eighteen children. His ninth son Eugen Ahasverus Albertus was the grandfather of Lothar von Arnauld de la Perière .
