August Stotz (* 1845 ; † 1908 ) was a German blacksmith in Heilbronn . His art nouveau blacksmith's work found wide distribution in northern Württemberg . His company, continued by his sons, also manufactured large technical iron structures.

Stotz lived in the house at Kaiserstraße 6 in Heilbronn. He also owned the houses at Bismarckstrasse 15, Charlottenstrasse 29 and 31 . August Stotz Söhne ran a locksmith's shop, a blacksmith's shop and a factory for iron structures. In the period around 1900 Stotz and his sons were involved in numerous representative building projects, including a. They created ironwork based on their own or other people's designs for the town halls in Schwaigern and Heilbronn and for the Heilbronner Friedenskirche as well as for countless villas and commercial buildings. In addition to artistic work, the company also produced technical constructions, including components for new factory buildings and commissioned work for Julius Wolff's crane factory. In 1883, August Stotz registered a patent for a parallel guide on sliding doors with the Imperial Patent Office . He died in 1908. The architects Beutinger & Steiner took over the design of his tomb .

The work of August Stotz & Sons influenced young craftsmen such as Erwin Mehne , who completed his training at the Stotz company.

Most of the work created by Stotz in Heilbronn was lost when the city was destroyed in the air raid on December 4, 1944 . Some of the remaining buildings, for which Stotz created handicrafts, are now listed , including the Villa Stotz , Villa Teufel , Villa Knorr and the former Hotel Victoria in Heilbronn or the town hall in Schwaigern .
