August von Dohna-Lauck

August von Dohna-Lauck (born March 28, 1728 in Reichertswalde , † January 4, 1796 in Wesel ) was a Prussian major general and chief of infantry regiment No. 44 .

Life

His parents were the Dutch captain Adolf Christoph von Dohna (* July 4, 1683; † September 13, 1736) and his wife Freda-Marie von Dohna-Schlodien (* December 31, 1695; † June 30, 1772), daughter of Christoph I. to Dohna-Schlodien .

On April 22, 1744 , Dohna became an ensign in the infantry regiment "zu Dohna-Carwinds" . On March 7, 1751, he was promoted to second lieutenant and on October 6, 1756, he was first lieutenant . During the Seven Years' War Dohna fought near Meißen and Strehlen , and also took part in the sieges of Dresden , Wittenberg and the battle of Freiberg . During that time he became captain and company commander on April 13, 1760 . Promoted to major on April 4, 1774 after the war , he participated as such in the War of the Bavarian Succession . On June 11, 1783 he became a lieutenant colonel and on March 10, 1783 regimental commander. This was followed by his promotion to colonel on March 6, 1786 and his appointment as head of the regiment on August 31, 1791. Dohna's appointment as major general took place on May 20, 1792 with a patent from May 21, 1792. He died on January 4, 1796 in Wesel.

Dohna married on March 20, 1776 in Wesel Sophie Friederike von Budberg (* September 10, 1752 - March 19, 1796), daughter of Major General Alexander von Budberg . The daughter Eleonore (April 1, 1777 - April 7, 1855) emerged from the marriage and married the later Prussian infantry general Moritz von Schoeler (1771–1855).
