The Amsterdam Centraal – Schiphol railway line is around 17 kilometers long between the Amsterdam Centraal and Schiphol Airport stations . The railway line runs from Amsterdam Centraal in a south-westerly direction to Schiphol.

history

The route was opened on June 1, 1986. The line was built to relieve the other lines and was electrified from the start. The line is double-track and the maximum speed of the line is 130 km / h. When the line opened, the new Amsterdam Lelylaan and Amsterdam De Vlugtlaan stations were opened to traffic. On the section between Amsterdam Sloterdijk and Amsterdam Lelylaan stations, metro line 50 has been running parallel to the railway line since 1997. The planning had taken into account that De Vlugtlaan station should be closed again when the metro started operating. This was only put into practice in 2000 when space was needed for the Hemboog , which has offered direct travel options from Schiphol to Zaandam, Purmerend and Enkhuizen since 2008. It is no longer necessary to change trains at the Sloterdijk tower station.
