Baniewo (German Banow ) is a small town in the Polish West Pomeranian Voivodeship . He belongs to the rural community Malechowo ( Malchow ) in the powiat Sławieński ( Schlawe district ).

Geographical location

Baniewo is located in Western Pomerania , three kilometers northwest of Ostrowiec ( Wusterwitz ). It borders on the places Smardzewo ( Schmarsow ), Dybowo ( Dybow ), Kosierzewo ( Kusserow ) and Podgórki ( German Puddiger ). The train station is Sławno .

Baniewo is located on the connecting road between Karwice ( Karwitz ) on the state roads DK 6 and DK 37 and Ostrowiec ( Wusterwitz ) on the voivodship road DW 205 .

history

The former manor with farm workers' houses had a size of 250 hectares before 1945, which were dedicated to potato seed cultivation, dairy farming and cattle breeding.

Until 1945, Banow was part of the municipality of Wusterwitz, which was the seat of the Wusterwitz district and was part of the Segenthin (Żegocino) registry office and the Schlawe district court in the Schlawe i. Pom. in the administrative district of Köslin belonged to the province of Pomerania .

Shortly before the end of World War II , Banow was occupied by the Red Army on March 7, 1945 . After the end of the war, Banow was placed under Polish administration and renamed Baniewo .

The village now belongs to the Gmina Malechowo in the powiat Sławieński of the West Pomeranian Voivodeship (until 1998 Koszalin Voivodeship ).

Banow was before 1945 in the Protestant church Wusterwitz incorporated (Ostrowiec), with German Puddiger (Pogórki) own parish in the church district Schlawe the ecclesiastical province of Pomerania in the Prussian Union of churches formed. Today Baniewo is part of the Catholic parish Ostrowiec in the deanery Sławno in the diocese of Köslin-Kolberg . Evangelical local residents belong to the Koszalin ( Köslin ) parish in the diocese of Pomerania-Greater Poland of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church .
