Place name

The spelling Soltikow has only been naturalized since the 18th century. Before that one wrote Soldekow , Zoldekow and also - similar to today's name - Sulechowe .

history

The two settlements Groß- (Sulechowo) and Klein Soltikow ( Sulechówko ) - which were later combined into one municipality - existed as early as the Middle Ages. Soltikow is first mentioned in 1267 when it appears in a list of places that the Camminer Bishop Hermann von Gleichen assigned to the church in Nemitz (now in Polish: Niemica). 1295 Ritter gave Virchewitz the convent Buckow 50  hooves bey the wild village Soltikow . And in 1409 Hennynk Mandüwel von Zoldekow signed a letter of atonement . The fief of the Manteuffel goes to Rahmel's . After that, Hans the Younger Schlieffen is named as the owner.

In 1784 Groß Soltikow had 11 farmers, 2 cottages and 1 school house. In 1818 there were 159 inhabitants, the number of which rose to 447 in 1864 and 474 in 1925. In 1939, large and small Soltikow had a total of 683 inhabitants in 175 households as part of the community.

On March 2, 1945, Groß Soltikow was occupied by the Red Army . The German population could initially stay here until Polish families came. On September 1, 1946, the Groß Soltikower were evacuated via Sławno and Stettin .

Coal mining in Groß Soltikow

In the years 1920 to 1924 the Norddeutsche Bergbau Aktien Gesellschaft (NoBAG) under the direction of the mine director Richard Koch operated coal mining in Groß Soltikow: south of the village, brown coal could be removed. It was about ten meters below the surface of the earth and its layer was seven to eight meters thick. The coal, which was later processed into briquettes, was described by experts as high quality, but its mining proved uneconomical and was therefore discontinued.

Office Soltikow

Until 1945, the community Soltikow (Groß- and Klein Soltikow (Sulechówko)) with Kuhtz (Kusice), Leikow (Lejkowo) and Nemitz (Niemica) (with Bartlin (Bartolino)) formed the administrative district of Soltikow in the district of Schlawe i. Pom. in the administrative district of Köslin in the Prussian province of Pomerania . The last German heads of office were Raasch, Fahrenbusch and Raddatz.

Soltikow registry office

All of the communities mentioned and also Söllnitz (Destinationsica) were united to form the Soltikow registry office .

church

The inhabitants of Groß Soltikow were exclusively Protestant until 1945 . With Leikow (Lejkowo) the village was part of the parish of Klein Soltikow (Sulechówko), which in turn was a branch parish in the parish of Nemitz (Niemica), which belonged to the parish of Rügenwalde (Darłowo) of the church province of Pomerania in the church of the Old Prussian Union . The last German clergyman was Pastor Martin Vossberg.

Today the inhabitants of Sulechowo are predominantly Catholic . The village belongs to the Parafia Sulechówko. The Protestant church members will be looked after by the parish office in Koszalin ( Köslin ) in the diocese of Pomerania-Greater Poland of the Evangelical-Augsburg (i.e. Lutheran) Church in Poland .

school

The school building was on the eastern exit of Groß Soltikow and was rebuilt in the 1930s as a primary school with a teacher's apartment. The school was attended by the children from young and old Soltikow. The last German school holder was Artur Bunde.
