Laski is on a side street that connects Sławno , Bobrowiczki ( Neu Bewersdorf ), Żegocino ( Segenthin ), Lejkowo ( Leikow ), Jacinki ( Jatzingen ) and Polanów ( Pollnow ). The road from Krąg ( Krangen ) to Sowno ( Alt Zowen ) crosses in the village .

Until 1945 Latzig was a train station on the small railway line of the Schlawer Bahnen from Schlawe to Pollnow.

Neighboring places of Laski are in the northwest Sierakowo Sławieńskie ( Zirchow ), in the north Borkowo ( Borkow ), in the east Bożenice ( Bosens ), in the south Bukowo ( Buckow , until 1937 Wendisch Buckow ) with Domachowo ( Hanshagen ) and in the southwest Sowno.

Place name

The place name Latzig (also Latzke, Laatzke ) occurred five times in Pomerania before 1945. The Polish name Laski occurs even for 25 localities in Poland.

history

Prehistoric finds indicate an early settlement of the later manor village of Latzig. In 1378 Latzke was owned by the von Natzmer family . Around 1500 Adam von Podewils is named as feudal lord , after him the fief changed to the families von Ramel , von Köller , von Münchow , von Below , again von Ramel and von Kleist . After 1717 Latzig was wholly owned by the von Podewils- Krangen family, who sold it in 1828. After various other owners, the estate comes by marriage to Max Glagau, whose daughter Ellen Ermekeil (divorced from Xylander ) was the last owner before 1945. The farm with farm buildings, distillery , dairy, and Gutspark Deputanten apartment blocks located on the southeast-northwest trending village street.

In 1818 there were 89 inhabitants in Latzig. The number rose to 215 in 1867, to 283 in 1925, and 250 people lived here in 1939.

Before 1945 Latzig and Alt Zowen (now Polish: Sowno), Friedensdorf (Powidz), Neu Zowen (Sowinko) belonged to the district of Zowen in the district of Schlawe i. Pom. in the provincial Pomeranian administrative district of Köslin . The last mayor of Latzig was Willi Burzlaff. Latzig was also connected to (Alt) Zowen in a civil registry office. The competent district court was in Zanow (Sianów).

On February 27 and 28, 1945, the villagers of Latzig fled in three treks from the approaching Soviet troops. However, on the way they fell directly into the hands of the Red Army and were looted, tortured and driven back to Latzig. Here the Soviet army occupied the village on March 1, 1945, while the residents did not return to the burned-down village until March 13. In 1946 all residents had left their homeland. Latzig became Polish and under the name Laski a district of Gmina Malechowo in the powiat Sławieński in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship (until 1998 Köslin Voivodeship ).

Miłobądz ( Louisenhof )

Before 1945 the Vorwerk Louisenhof (Polish: Miłobądz) belonged to the municipality of Latzig . It was a manor farm and was two kilometers west of the property on a dirt road. Once a sheep farm, it no longer exists today.

church

Before 1945 almost the entire population of Latzig was of Protestant denomination. However, the village did not have its own church, but belonged to the church in Zirchow (now Polish: Sierakowo Sławieńskie), which - like that in Kummerow (Komorowo) - was a branch church in the parish of Krangen (Krąg). It belonged to the church district Schlawe (Sławno) in the church province of Pomerania of the Church of the Old Prussian Union . The last German clergyman was Pastor Wilhelm Vedder. There was no church patronage in Latzig.

Today the residents of Laski mostly belong to the Catholic Church in Poland . The church in Sierakowo Sławieńskie is - as before 1945 - which today belongs to the parish Sulechówko ( Klein Soltikow ) in the deanery Sławno ( Schlawe ) in the diocese of Koszalin-Kołobrzeg ( Köslin-Kolberg ). Evangelical villagers are cared for by the parish office in Koszalin ( Köslin ) in the diocese of Pomerania-Greater Poland of the Evangelical-Augsburg (Lutheran) Church in Poland .

school

The school building, newly built in 1834, stood not far from the manor house in Latzig. The last German teacher was Hugo Frenk.
