Beatrice von Matt

Beatrice von Matt (* 12. June 1936 in Basel as Beatrice Albrecht ) is a Swiss literary critic , journalist and editor .

Live and act

Beatrice von Matt studied German and English in Zurich, Paris and Cambridge and did her doctorate with Emil Staiger . From 1984 to 1995 she was the features editor of the Neue Zürcher Zeitung, responsible for German-language literature from Switzerland and Germany as well as Dutch literature.

She works as a publicist and also works for cultural organizations, for example from 1998 to 2005 as a board member of the Swiss cultural foundation Pro Helvetia .

Von Matt wrote monographs on Werner Düggelin , Max Frisch , Meinrad Inglin and Albin Zollinger , among others . As editor, she was responsible for the edition of Meinrad Inglin's works and published, for example, the works of EY Meyer .

She is married to the German specialist Peter von Matt and has two children.
