Beauchamp is a French commune with 8,683 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Val-d'Oise department of the Île-de-France region . It belongs to the canton of Taverny in the Argenteuil arrondissement . The inhabitants are called Beauchampois (es) .
geography
The municipality is located 20 kilometers northwest of Paris . It is surrounded by Taverny in the north and northeast, Franconville in the southeast, Montigny-lès-Cormeilles in the south and Pierrelaye in the west and southwest.
history
In 1922 the community was formed from the actual locality and parts of the neighboring communities. Beauchamp (from Latin campus bellum - battlefield ) is located on the Roman road from Lutetia (today: Paris) and Juliobona (today: Lillebonne ). With the railway (train station since 1846) the area flourished, especially the town of Beauchamp.
