Herblay-sur-Seine is a French commune with 29,342 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Val-d'Oise department in the Île-de-France region .
The municipality, originally named Herblay , changed its name to the current name Herblay-sur-Seine with decree N ° 2018-956 of November 5, 2018 .

The city is located on the Seine , 20 kilometers northwest of central Paris . Neighboring municipalities are Pierrelaye in the north, Beauchamp in the northeast, Montigny-lès-Cormeilles in the east, La Frette-sur-Seine in the southeast, Achères in the southwest, Conflans-Sainte-Honorine in the west and Éragny and Saint-Ouen-l'Aumône in the northwest .

history
origin
It was known in 754 under the name Arbrelidum , then it was called Erblay , later Arblay .
The city belonged to the manors of the Abbés de Saint-Denis , the cathedral chapter of Notre-Dame de Paris and the Chaumont family . It belonged to the fief of Jean de Beauvais in the 14th century and that of the Ailegrin in the 16th century.
The 12th century church of Saint-Martin was declared a Monument on July 6, 1925 . It is built on the site of a Merovingian necropolis.
19th century
At the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century, the city developed very quickly thanks to the construction of the railway. Many middle-class families settled on the land near Paris. They commissioned beautiful villas from the contemporary to the Art Nouveau with the architects.
