Beilingen in the Eifel is a municipality in the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm in Rhineland-Palatinate . It belongs to the collective municipality of Speicher .
location
Beilingen is located about three kilometers northeast of Speicher . Furthermore, it is exactly in the flight path of the Spangdahlem military airfield , so that special noise protection measures are required for the houses of the residents. The Hubertushof residential area also belongs to Beilingen .
history
Wonderfully country belonged Beilingen by the end of the 18th century the Duchy of Luxembourg and was part of the rule breaking .
After 1792 French revolutionary troops occupied the Austrian Netherlands , to which the Duchy of Luxembourg belonged, and annexed it in October 1795 . From 1795 to 1814 the place belonged to the canton of Dudeldorf in the department of forests .
In 1815, the former Luxembourg area east of the Sauer and Our was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna . In 1816, the municipality of Beilingen became part of the Wittlich district in the Trier administrative district in the Grand Duchy of Lower Rhine province , which became part of the Rhine province in 1822. Since 1946 the community has been part of the then newly formed state of Rhineland-Palatinate .

Municipal council
The council in Beilingen consists of eight council members, who in the local elections on May 26, 2019 in a majority vote were elected, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Justification of the coat of arms: The Lords of Bruch had a shield that was divided five times by gold and red diagonally to the right. Church and local patron saint of Beilingen is St. John the Baptist . His signs are ax, cross or lamb. Here a lecture cross was chosen as a sign of the patron saint. |
economy
Beilingen was known for its excellent flax until around 1900 . Hemp and flax were grown and the exposed fibers were then spun and woven at home. Even today, over half of the municipality is used for agriculture by four local businesses.
