Benno von Henninges

Hermann August Benno von Henninges (born August 15, 1836 in Nordsteimke , † August 25, 1899 in Braunschweig ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

origin

He was the son of August von Henninges (1787-1857) and his wife Auguste, born von Brandes (1797-1860). His father, who was raised to the imperial aristocracy in Vienna on April 13, 1804 , was a Brunswick lieutenant colonel and commander of the Guard Hussar Regiment .

Military career

On April 29, 1854, Henninges was transferred to the Emperor Alexander Guard Grenadier Regiment No. 1 of the Prussian Army as a flag squire from the Cadet Corps . For further training he was assigned to the division school in Potsdam from October 1854 to July 1855 and was promoted to secondary lieutenant on February 9, 1856 . Henninges acted from December 1857 to October 1858 as adjutant of the III. Battalion in the 3rd Guards Landwehr Regiment in Lissa, Poland, and then in the same function in the fusilier battalion of his main regiment. On February 14, 1863, he was promoted to prime lieutenant . During the war against Denmark in 1864 Henninges was commanded as an adjutant to the combined guard division in Schleswig and took part in the battles at Düppel , Klein Rheide , Satrup and Fredericia . For his behavior he was awarded the Red Eagle Order IV Class with Swords. After the war ended, Henninges remained in command of the combined division in Schleswig.

During the war against Austria in 1866, Henninges led the 10th company of his regiment in the battles near Soor and Königgrätz . His achievements were by the award of the Crown Order III. Class honored with swords. After the peace treaty, he was promoted to captain and appointed chief of the 1st company. Henninges held this command in 1870/71 during the war against France and at times he also served as leader of the 1st and 2nd battalions. He took part in the fights at St. Privat , Beaumont , Sedan , Stains and Le Bourget and was awarded both classes of the Iron Cross .

On February 2, 1872 he was commanded as an adjutant to the General Command of the XI. Army Corps in Kassel . Left in this command, Henninges was transferred to the 6th Westphalian Infantry Regiment No. 55 in mid-January 1874 and promoted to major on April 30, 1874 . From February 4, 1875, he was employed as a battalion commander in the 1st Baden Leib Grenadier Regiment No. 109 . In this position, Henninges became lieutenant colonel in September 1881 and was promoted to regular staff officer on November 15, 1883 . Under position à la suite of the 3rd Guards Regiment on foot , Henninges was commissioned on January 12, 1884 with the management of the affairs of the inspector of the military penal institutions. With his promotion to colonel on July 14, 1884 he was appointed inspector. He gave up this post on January 11, 1886 and was transferred as a commander to the Kaiser Alexander Guard Grenadier Regiment No. 1. In position à la suite of his regiment, he was appointed commander of Posen on September 19, 1888 . In this position he was promoted to major general on November 13, 1888 and received the character of lieutenant general on May 16, 1891 . In approval of his resignation request , Henninges was put up for disposal on July 20, 1892 with the statutory pension .

Henninges married Elsbeth von Bernuth (* 1846) in Cologne on September 14, 1867. The marriage had nine children:
