organization

Conceived as a public-private partnership in 2011 between the alliance, the Federal Ministry of Family Affairs and other partners, the BDF has established itself as an international platform for the demographic community. Diakonie Deutschland has been organizing the BDF since the end of 2016. In 2018 the Diakonie Deutschland was supported by the following institutions: Federal Ministry for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ); Federal Ministry of Health (BMG); Federal Institute for Population Research (BiB); Allianz Germany SE ; Population Europe; German Society for Demography eV ; Ecclesia Insurance Service GmbH ; German Association of Towns and Municipalities (DStGB); F / L Think Tank eG; Bertelsmann Stiftung and ESMT European School of Management and Technology Berlin .

The diversity of nationalities and fields of work of the BDF participants allows interdisciplinary access to demography, which is supplemented by new research results, case studies and exhibitions. This is where the demographic community, represented by over 200 decision-makers and experts from around 20 countries from politics, international organizations, science, business, civil society and the media, can meet to discuss important trends, developments, challenges and possible solutions against the background of demographic change to discuss.

The European School of Management and Technology (ESMT Berlin) is the host of the annual conference. Jörg Rocholl , President of ESMT Berlin, acts as the BDF conference leader.

In addition to the conference program, the Young Expert Program also took place until 2017. In this context, representatives of the younger generations were invited to the BDF, together with the experts, to discuss the resulting challenges of advancing demographic change and to comprehensively discuss the effects on their generations. The alumni of the Young Expert Program form a strong network and are a key part of the international demographic community. The Vodafone Foundation Germany participated in the Berlin Demography Forum with the support of the Young Expert Panel.

The design of the content is supported by the BDF advisory board. In March 2014 Franz Müntefering took over the chairmanship of the advisory board from Ursula Lehr .
