Bernd Reiter

Bernd Reiter (born June 22, 1982 in Leoben ) is an Austrian jazz musician ( drums , band leader).

Life

From 1988 Reiter received drum lessons from Nik Wonisch. From 2001 to 2007 he studied drums with Manfred Josel , Christian Salfellner and Howard Curtis at the Graz University of Art (MA). He also completed workshops with Billy Cobham , Bruno Castellucci , John Riley , Lewis Nash , Charli Persip and Jimmy Cobb .

Reiter worked with Mundell Lowe , Claudio Roditi , Willi Johanns , Melanie Bong Claus Raible , Claus Koch , Herwig Gradischnig , Renato Chicco, Mathias Pichler, Helmut Kagerer , Heinz von Hermann , Kirk Lightsey , Ines Reiger , Richard Oesterreicher and the big band by Al Porcino . The cooperation with Roman Schwaller and Adrian Mears started early on . He also performed in the field of classical music with the Haydn Orchestra Bruck / Mur, the Innerberger Brass Ensemble and the Young Musicians International Symphony Orchestra. He has been touring with his own bands since 2005, including his New York Allstars , and in 2018 with Eric Alexander , Harold Mabern and Darryl Hall . In 2008 he presented his debut album. He can also be heard on albums by Charles Davis , Jim Rotondi , Don Menza , Patrick Bianco and Vid Jamnik.

Prizes and awards

In 2004 Reiter was a prize winner at the international jazz festival “generations 04” in Frauenfeld / Switzerland and in 2005 a prize winner at the Marianne Mendt talent competition (live recording and CD production by ORF ) in St. Pölten. In 2016 he won the Swiss Jazz Award with Patrick Biancos Cannonsoul .
