Beylerbeyi SK is a Turkish football club from the Beylerbeyi district of Istanbul . The Red-Greens play their home games at Beylerbeyi 75th Yıl Stadyumu . The association uses the acronym BBS . In addition to the well-known football department, the club also has other sports departments such as basketball , rowing and swimming .

history

The club was founded in 1904 and from 1911 participated in the competition with the two sports football and rowing . According to other sources, the association was not founded until 1914. Sports such as basketball , judo and swimming were only added later.

The soccer team has played in the lower amateur leagues of Istanbul since its inception. They played only a few seasons with the major Istanbul clubs Galatasaray , Beşiktaş and Fenerbahçe in a league.

Since 1963 Beylerbeyi SK participated as a founding member of the newly created, second highest and nationwide Turkish professional league, today's TFF 1. Lig . In 1969 they were relegated from this league, but made it twice. Reinforced by the founding of numerous Anatolian teams, which increasingly strengthened regionally, the club lost its importance. At the beginning of the 1970s, the club said goodbye to professional football for about ten years and was completely forgotten. In 1981 the club found the connection again and made it to the TFF 1. Lig. 1998, however, they played the last time in this league.

Since 2009 the club has played in the fourth highest Turkish league, the TFF 3rd Lig .
