In the 1983/84 season the Biathlon World Cup was held for the 7th time. The competition series consisted of five individual, sprint and relay races for men and was held at five venues. In addition to the five World Cup events in Falun , Pontresina , Ruhpolding , Oberhof and Oslo , the Olympic Games for men were held in Sarajevo , Yugoslavia , but the results were not included in the World Cup ranking. From 1984 the results of the World Championships until 1994, with the exception of the World Championships in 1990 , were not included in the World Cup ranking. The first world championships for women were held in Chamonix, France. Frank-Peter Roetsch won the overall men's world cup ahead of Peter Angerer and Eirik Kvalfoss .
