Bigot de Saint-Quentin (French: Comte Le Bigot de Saint-Quentin ) were a Gräfliches from the Picardy originating French and Austrian noble family .

history

Marie Catherine Le Bigot, Comtesse de St. Quentin
François-Antoine Le Bigot, Comte de Saint-Quentin

The family was mentioned in a document as early as the 14th century under the name "Le Bigot". The progenitor of the family, Seigneur Jacques Le Bigot, married Marie, daughter of Seigneur Armand d'Alphéry, lord of La Mothe de Castillones and Antonie de Geoffre in 1500. In their will of March 4, 1525, St. Quentin Castle was first mentioned in a document. Their son Jean, royal captain in Metz, was already called "Le Bigot de Saint-Quentin".

Jacques' grandson, Junker Jean (* 1535), was first referred to as Seigneur de St. Quentin in the marriage contract of 1564 with Anne de la Boétie (Boytie), sister of Étienne de La Boétie . Through his marriage, he also acquired Boytie and La Valette. After his son Jean-Baptiste (1545–1631) had advanced to royal chamberlain, his eldest son, the lieutenant general of the French king, Jean-François (1601–1692), married Marie de Maurès, dame d'Artigues et comtesse de Moricourt, in appearance as Marquis de St. Quentin Comte de Plassac, Baron de Seimur, Lord of Guitierres, Governor of Auxonne . Since he only had one daughter, this line became extinct in the male line.

A descendant of the younger son Jean-Louis (1603–1685), an officer in the Picardy Council, was the founder of the Austrian line. His great-grandson François-Antoine, notary, (* February 25, 1724 in Strasbourg ; † May 1, 1802) in Maursmünster (Marmoutier) , married Maria Catharina Weisrock on November 27, 1751 and had seven children, of which François- Louis emigrated to the German Empire in 1791.
