It bordered the counties of Szilágy , Szolnok-Doboka , Bistritz-Naszod (Beszterce-Naszód) , Maros-Torda , Torda-Aranyos and Bihar .

geography

The entire county is very mountainous due to its location in the Carpathian Mountains , in the interior there is only woodless heathland, which is fertile with the exception of the northwest. The Somesch (now Romanian Someş ) and the Rapid Kreisch (now Romanian Crişul Repede ) flow through the county .

history

Cluj County was established in the 11th century and became part of the Principality of Transylvania after the Turkish occupation of Hungary .

After the end of the First World War in 1918, the area became part of Greater Romania as a result of the Treaty of Trianon in 1920 and, after several area reforms, is located in Cluj County except for small parts in the northwest ( Sălaj County ), northeast ( Bistrița-Năsăud County ) and southeast ( Mureş County ) .
