Benjamin Mintz
Benjamin Mintz ( Hebrew בִּנְיָמִין מִינץ, also Binyamin Mintz ; * January 12, 1903 in Łódź ; † May 30, 1961 ) was an Israeli politician and postal minister.
Life
Benjamin Mintz studied at the Hasidic Gerschule and was a member of the Agudat Jisra'el youth movement . In 1925 he made his Aliyah in the League of Nations Mandate for Palestine , where he worked on construction sites and as a printer.
In 1933 he became a member of the Poalei Agudat Jisra'el and then a member of the Mo'etzet HaMedina HaSmanit ( Hebrew מועצת המדינה הזמנית; Provisional State Council). In the parliamentary elections in Israel in 1949 he was on the electoral list of the HaChasit haDatit haMe'uchedet . He was re-elected in 1951, 1955 and 1959. On July 17, 1960 he was appointed Minister of Post by David Ben-Gurion and held this office until his death in May 1961. Jad Benjamin (also Yad Binyamin), founded in 1962, was named in honor of Benjamin Mintz.
