The Bn networks GmbH , shortly Bn networks (proper spelling: bnNETZE), is a subsidiary of Badenova AG & Co. KG with headquarters in Freiburg . As a distribution network operator, Bn Netze GmbH is responsible for the operation, planning, expansion and maintenance of the electricity , natural gas and water networks in its network area. It operates the distribution network in large parts of southern Baden for the electricity and gas sectors . In Freiburg, Lahr and some other municipalities, it also operates the water network.
history

Bn Netze GmbH is a subsidiary of Badenova AG & Co. KG. It was founded in 2007 based on the requirements of the Energy Industry Act on unbundling . In doing so, the new company had to distinguish itself from the Badenova parent company in terms of its name and external appearance, including the company logo , in order to avoid any confusion between sales and network operations .
Locations
The headquarters of Bn Netze GmbH is located in Freiburg's industrial area north, on the Badenova site in Tullastraße in the Brühl district . Other locations are in Lahr, Lörrach , Oberndorf , Offenburg , Tuttlingen , Sinzheim and Waldshut-Tiengen .
Natural gas network
The natural gas network of Bn Netze covers an area of almost 5500 km² and extends in north-south direction from Baden-Baden to the Swiss national border , in west-east direction from the French national border to Tuttlingen . Due to its spatial location, the network is assigned to the NetConnect Germany market area . With a line length of 7730 km, around 175,200 meters are installed in this network area . The dimensions of the pipes used range from DN 25 to DN 450, the pressure ratings from PN 1 to PN 70. The natural gas is taken over at several network interconnection points by the upstream network operator, Gasversorgung Süddeutschland . There are a total of 16 network interconnection points that connect the downstream network operators via lines.
power grid
The power grid extends over an area of around 660 km² and is almost 5750 km in length. Around 198,000 meters (as of December 2015) are installed in this network area. The power grid includes high , medium and low voltage lines to which around 145,000 households are connected. Bn Netze GmbH is the network operator for the city of Freiburg and the communities of Au , Bad Krozingen , Breisach , Buchenbach , Buggingen , Eringen , Breisgau , Gottenheim , Heitersheim , Horben , Ihringen , Merdingen , Merzhausen , Neuchâtel , Oberried , Pfaffenweiler , St. Peter , Stegen , Umkirch and Weisweil . The municipalities of Wutöschingen and Lauchringen also belong to the power grid area of Bn Netze.
Street lighting network
In the supply areas of Freiburg, Breisach, Buggingen, Heitersheim, Merdingen, Ihringen, Eringen, Weisweil and Bad Krozingen, Bn Netze is responsible for maintaining the street lighting .
Water supply network
Drinking water is supplied to households with our own waterworks and distribution networks . As a full supplier or on behalf of the municipalities as a service provider, Bn Netze operates and maintains the relevant supply systems. In Freiburg and Lahr, Bn Netze has its own water supplies, for which these two cities have granted Bn Netze GmbH water concessions. The network length of the water pipes (including household connections) is around 1,300 kilometers. The company has around 36,000 meters in the network. There are partnerships in the water sector with 34 other municipalities.
Sewage network
The city of Freiburg operates the disposal of the wastewater generated in its area as a public facility in the form of its own municipal drainage system. The city provides the necessary systems and has commissioned Bn Netze GmbH for the operation and maintenance of the sewage network. The Freiburg sewer network has a total length of around 850 km. Large parts of the network belong to the municipal drainage company, other areas to the gardening and civil engineering department, the Freiburger Verkehrs AG and the Breisgauer Bucht waste water association. The sewer network is divided into roughly one third each into mixed water, dirty water and rainwater. In order to determine the respective status of the sewer system, the respective channels are regularly subjected to a technical camera examination by Bn networks. The sewer cleaning of the sewer network is another essential part of the tasks for Bn networks. Depending on the degree of soiling of the deposits in the sewer, an appropriate flushing pressure is used for this. The maintenance of the rainwater systems is also subject to Bn networks. Here u. a. Rain overflows, rain overflow basins, rain clarification basins, rainwater treatment systems cleaned and examined for condition. The rain and flood retention basins that are used during heavy rain events are of great importance in entertainment. The Freiburg brooks in the old town are also maintained by Bn Netze. In addition to the (above-ground) cleaning, the rotten underground areas are regularly subjected to technical camera examinations. An on-call service is provided for the public Freiburg sewer network and sewage systems, which is on call 24 hours a day. Emergency operations to secure the sewage system or in the event of a water alarm are often carried out in cooperation with z. B. the fire brigade , the gardening and civil engineering office, environmental protection office or economic control service.
