Bob Bertemes (born May 24, 1993 in Luxembourg ) is a Luxembourgish shot putter .
Athletic career
Bob Bertemes gained his first international experience in 2011 at the Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE) in Schaan , where he won the bronze medal behind the Icelandic Óðinn Björn Þorsteinsson and Georgios Arestis from Cyprus with a width of 16.75 m . He then took part in the European Junior Championships in Tallinn and was eliminated there with 17.42 m in qualification. The following year he reached the final at the Junior World Championships in Barcelona , but failed to make a valid attempt there. In 2013 he won the bronze medal at the GSSE in Luxembourg with 17.65 m, this time behind the Montenegrin Danijel Furtula and Þorsteinsson from Iceland. He then retired at the U23 European Championships in Tampere with 17.94 m in the qualifying round, before he came fourth at the Games of the Francophonie in Nice with 18.78 m. In 2015 he was fifth at the European Indoor Championships in Prague with 20.48 m in the final and then won the GSSE in Reykjavík with 19.11 m. In the course of the 3rd league of the European Team Championship, he took part in the European Games in Baku and finished fourth there with 17.93 m. At the U23 European Championships in Tallinn he won the silver medal with 19.29 m and he also qualified for the World Championships in Beijing , where he was eliminated with 19.87 m in qualification . He then won the silver medal at the Military World Games in Mungyeon, South Korea, with a width of 19.60 m and only had to admit defeat to the Brazilian Darlan Romani .
In 2016 he reached 15th place at the World Indoor Championships in Portland with 19.48 m and was eliminated from qualification at the European Championships in Amsterdam with 19.39 m at the beginning of July , as well as at the 2017 European Athletics Indoor Championships in Belgrade with 19 , 47 m. At the GSSE in Serravalle he successfully defended his title with 19.33 m and won the silver medal behind the Congolese Franck Elemba at the Francophonie Games in Abidjan with 19.55 m . He also took part again in the World Championships in London , but did not reach the final with 19.10 m . The following year he finished sixth at the European Championships in Berlin with 21.00 m and in 2019 he was fifth at the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow with a stroke of 20.70 m. In Bar he won the GSSE with 20.57 m for the third time in a row and at the World Championships in Doha he failed again with 19.89 m in qualification . He then won the bronze medal behind the Brazilian Romani and Konrad Bukowiecki from Poland at the World Military Games in Wuhan with 20.66 m .
In 2017 and 2019 Bertemes was Luxembourgish champion in the shot put outdoors and in 2014, and from 2017 to 2020 also indoors.
