Geographical location
Boothbay Harbor is located in southwest Lincoln County on a peninsula on Linekin Bay in the Atlantic Ocean . Several islands also belong to the area of the town. The better known are: Isle of Springs , Thirty Acre Island, and Indiantown Island . It borders Sagadahoc County to the west . To the northeast is the Lobster Cove Preserve and to the northwest is the Penny Lake Preserve . The ferry to Squirrel Island leaves from Boothbay Harbor . The surface is flat, without any significant elevations.

history
Boothbay Harbor belonged to the area of the Town Boothbay until the independent organization as a Town on February 16, 1889. The first European settlers and fishermen settled in the region at the beginning of the 17th century. The economy is now geared towards tourism. Boats for whale watching leave from Boothbay Harbor , and the natural harbor is also used as a sailing area.

There are several medical facilities and hospitals in Boothbay Harbor.
Boothbay Harbor is home to the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library . It was founded in 1906 and in 1922 it moved to the first floor of the Townsend Building. After these rooms became too small in 1923, a new building was erected and opened in 1924.
