Botond Flinta (born October 4, 1987 in Miercurea Ciuc ) is a Romanian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HSC Csíkszereda in the Romanian ice hockey league and the MOL league since November 2017 .

Career

Botond Flinta, who belongs to the Hungarian-speaking Szekler minority in Romania, began his career as a hockey player at HC Csíkszereda , for whose first team he was active in the Romanian ice hockey league from 2003 to 2005 . He then played for two years for their city rivals SC Miercurea Ciuc , with whom he won the Romanian cup competition in 2006 and the double of championship and cup in 2007 .

With HC Csíkszereda, he took part in the Hungarian ice hockey league from 2007 to 2009, parallel to the game in Romania, and then in the 2008/09 season in the transnational MOL league , whose championship he won with his team in the premier season of the MOL league. When the team then had to be dissolved for financial reasons, the Romanian international signed a contract for the 2009/10 season with Alba Volán Székesfehérvár from Hungary, for whom he was on the ice in 13 games in the Austrian ice hockey league . At the same time he ran as a loan player for the Ferencvárosi TC in the MOL league and the Hungarian league. In 2010 he moved to HSC Csíkszereda , with whom he won the MOL league in 2011 . He was also Romanian champion with the club in 2012 and 2013 and cup winner in 2014. After four years in his native Miercurea Ciuc, he moved to CSM Dunărea Galați in 2014 . With a club from the border region to the Republic of Moldova , he celebrated its first national championship title in 2015. In 2016, he managed to defend his title in the championship as well as win the Romanian cup competition. In November 2017 he returned to HSC Csíkszereda, with whom he won the championship and cup double in 2018.

International

For Romania , Flinta took part in the junior division of the U18 World Junior Championships in Division I 2004 and the U20 World Junior Championships in Division II in 2005 , 2006 and 2007 .

In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships in Division II in 2006 , 2008 , 2015 and 2017 and in the World Championships in Division I in 2007 , 2012 , 2014 and 2016 .
