The Brautstein near Trendelburg in the north Hessian district of Kassel is 209.4 m above sea level. NHN high elevation of the Reinhardswald in the Reinhardswald estate district . The Deiseler Tunnel of the former Carlsbahn runs through its western spur, known as the Kesselberg .

location
The Brautstein is located in the northwest part of the Reinhardswald estate . Its summit is 2.2 km north-northeast of the center of Trendelburg and 1.9 km east of Deisel , 1.8 km south-south-east of Wülmersen and 2.6 km (as the crow flies ) north-west of Friedrichsfeld ; all three are districts of Trendelburg. Its west-north-western slope spur is called Kesselberg , through which the Deiseler Tunnel leads, and a spur in the east is called Katzenkopf . To the south-southwest the landscape leads over to the nearby Sülzer Berg . To the west past the Brautstein flows the Diemel , which runs through Trendelburg and passes Deisel , into which the Holzape , which runs northeast of the wooded elevation, flows near Wülmersen . On this side of the Holzape, the landscape leads north to Assaburg ( 163.5 m ), and on the other side of the brook in the northeast is the Moosberg ( 185 m ).
Natural allocation
The Brautstein belongs in the natural spatial main unit group Weser-Leine-Bergland (No. 37) and in the main unit Solling, Bramwald and Reinhardswald (370) to the sub-unit Reinhardswald (370.4). Its landscape falls to the west into the sub-unit Hofgeismarer Rötsenke (343.4) belonging to the main unit group West Hessisches Bergland (34) and the main unit West Hessian sink (343) .
Protected areas
At the north-east and south-west foot of the Brautstein, parts of the nature reserve (NSG) Holzapetal ( CDDA No. 81924; 1980 designated; 89 hectares in size) nestle in the Holzape and Diemeltal valleys . The NSG is part of the Fauna-Flora-Habitat- Area Holzapetal (FFH no. 4422-350; 2.54 km²). At the aforementioned feet of the elevation there are also parts of the landscape protection area landscape components and landscape parts in the Hofgeismar district ( CDDA no. 378519; 1938; 28.42 km² ), to which the LSG Auenverbund Diemel (CDDA no. 378399; 1994; 13.29 km²).
Traffic and walking
A little west past the Brautstein leads the federal road 83 , from which in Trendelburg the state road 763 runs eastward - past the cloudbursts near Trendelburg - to Trendelburg- Friedrichsfeld . For example, starting on these streets and on side streets that lead from the L 763 to Trendelburg-Abgunst and Friedrichsfeld-Saurental (also called Saures Valley ), the elevation can be hiked on mostly forest paths and paths. Each extending approximately in a north-south direction over the bride Stein east of collecting the trail Reinhardswald-west route and each west past the Diemeltal of fairytale land and - through the Deiseler tunnel - the Diemel bike path . There is a refuge about 220 m southeast of the summit .
