geography

The village is largely surrounded by forest areas on the Ailsbach , a left tributary of the Kleine Weisach . In the south is the forest area Höfisches Holz. The Geiersberg rises to the east ( 350  m above sea level ).

history

The place was probably created as a clearing settlement in the 13th century. The bishopric of Bamberg was the feudal lord . Originally Hans von Egloffstein zu Mühlhausen held the reimbursement tenure . In 1417 he sold it to the Nuremberg noble family Rummel with the manorial claim to an estate . The bishopric converted the fief into free property . In 1488 the bishopric awarded Erhart von Lauffenholz and his cousins three hooves in Buchfeld. Furthermore, Marschalk von Ebnet was wealthy in the village.

Towards the end of the 18th century there were 10 properties in Buchfeld (2 half courtyards, 4 Sölden , 3 drip houses ) and a community shepherd's house . The high court exercised partly the Bamberg Centamt Wachenroth , partly the Castell'sche Amt Burghaslach . The Seckendorff manor Weingartsgreuth held the village and community rulership as well as the lordship over all properties .

As part of the community edict, Buchfeld was assigned to the Unterwinterbach tax district formed in 1808 . It was incorporated into the rural community Weingartsgreuth , founded in 1818 . The entire place was subject to voluntary jurisdiction by the Patrimonial Court of Weingartsgreuth (until 1848).

On May 1, 1978, Buchfeld was incorporated into the Wachenroth market as part of the regional reform .
