The village of Bullach is the northernmost part of the city of Lauf an der Pegnitz .

geography

The city, which is embedded in a hollow, is bordered by numerous fish ponds in the north and west. During the carp season, which lasts from September to April, these are an important economic factor for the village. The place name Bullach was derived from the surrounding beech forests.

Bullach is located a little off the main connecting roads. In the Middle Ages, however, it was located directly on a supraregional trade route that led from Forchheim via the Upper Palatinate to Bohemia and which was also known as the "Iron Road". It later became known as the "Salt Road". For centuries, the street divided the village politically and denominationally into two districts: The part belonging to the Nuremberg nursing office in Lauf was Evangelical-Lutheran, while the part belonging to the Kurbaierischen or Wittelsbach rulership of Rothenberg was Roman Catholic.

history

The rural community of Bullach was incorporated into the city of Lauf an der Pegnitz as part of the regional reform on January 1, 1974. The last mayor of the rural community was Johann (called Hans) Witschel, who did the job voluntarily for 14 years.
