history

Towards the end of the 15th century, a local Laufer named Theuerlein had a chapel built on the summit plateau of the Kunigundenberg. This building, today's Kunigunden Church (Sankt Kunigund), formed the crystallization core for the development of the village.

As a result of the administrative reforms carried out in the Kingdom of Bavaria at the beginning of the 19th century , the place became part of the independent rural community of Lauf with the second municipal edict, which also included the two villages Kuhnhof and Vogelhof , as well as the wasteland Seiboldshof . The hamlet of Veldershof was added through incorporation in 1927 , and in 1952 the villages of Kotzenhof and Rudolphshof were added through reclamation from Rückersdorf to Lauf . In the course of the municipal territorial reform carried out in Bavaria in the 1970s, numerous other localities were finally incorporated into the city of Lauf. In 1961 Sankt Kunigunda had 17 inhabitants.

traffic

The connection to the public road network is made by a municipal road that leads up the western slope of the Kunigundenberg to the hamlet.

Attractions

With the Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Kunigund, there is an architectural monument that can be seen from afar in the village. It is a single-nave building with a polygonal cross-vaulted choir, which was built in the late 15th century.
