The Federation of Retired Officials, Pensioners and Survivors was the senior citizens' association in the dbb German Beamtenbund . The association had around 75,000 members in 16 regional associations. It was founded in 1953 as an amalgamation of various organizations under the name of the "Bund der Retestandsbeamten und berbenesen" within the German Association of Civil Servants . The dissolution of the federal government took place on the resolution of the extraordinary BRH federal representative assembly from October 1, 2012 to March 31, 2013.

The self-help community for older people represented and promoted the professional, legal and social concerns of its members. He advocated the participation of the older generation in matters affecting them. To achieve this goal, he worked with other associations of elderly people. The association promoted the activation of the older generation and the strengthening of their self-confidence. In addition to regular membership, there were also sustaining memberships.

The association's own magazine Aktiv im Retired was published 10 times a year. He also published the BRH Aktuell newsletter and various brochures.
