The Association of German Road Warden ( VDStra. ) Is a trade union based in Cologne . Since 2007 it has referred to itself as the "Trade Union of Roads and Transport Employees - Association of German Road Carriers, Operations Service, Technology and Administration in Public and Private Roads".

The VDStra. was founded in 1895 by the road attendant Jakob Leonhard in Ellern ( Hunsrück ). In October 1933, the association was dissolved by the NSDAP and incorporated as a specialist group into the German Labor Front . After the end of the Second World War , the association was re-established in December 1951.

The union represents road and transport workers in the public administration and the private sector. The VDStra. was a founding member of the DBB Tarifunion in 1969 and has been a member of the DBB Beamtenbund and Tarifunion since 2003 .
