The VDL Federal Association, Professional Association for Agriculture, Nutrition, Environment eV , is a professional association of those who have completed a degree in agricultural sciences , nutritional and household sciences / ecotrophology , land maintenance , environmental protection or related disciplines, are still studying or are due to comparable activity are interested in the work of the association. The VDL, which sees itself as a specialist, service and lobbying association, is based in Berlin.

tasks

The association carries out professional work and has the task of protecting the interests of its members. In the areas of agriculture, nutrition and the environment, science, research and teaching are promoted and represented in public. The aim is to secure the classic occupational field in the agricultural and food industry and to open up new areas of activity for the academic “green” professions. In order to fulfill the tasks, the VDL and its member associations are particularly committed to

  • the professional, social and economic interests of the members,
  • advising members on labor and social law issues,
  • the promotion of basic and advanced training for members and students
  • maintaining the collegial and social cohesion of the members,
  • the presentation of the diverse tasks and possible uses of the members in science, economy, administration, politics, advice, schools, planning, environmental protection, development aid and other areas of society and
  • the reputation of the profession in public.

Furthermore, the association cultivates cooperation and liaison with relevant associations as well as scientific teaching and research facilities at home and abroad.

history

The predecessor of the Association of German Graduate Farmers (VDL) was the Reichsbund of Academically Educated Farmers (RagL) founded in Magdeburg in September 1919; it existed until 1932. It was followed by the Reichsbund Deutscher Diplomlandwirte (RDL; also: RDDL), which existed from 1933 to 1945 and was affiliated with the Reichsnährstand .

The federal office of the VDL moved from Frankfurt am Main to Bonn in 1955, from Bonn to Hanover in 1957, from Hanover to Bonn-Oberkassel in 1961, to Bonn-Beuel in 1963 and from Bonn (Kasernenstrasse) to Berlin (Claire-Waldoff-Str. 7) in 2006

Members

Its full members are the Federal Association of University Graduates / Engineers, Horticulture and Landscape Architecture eV (BHGL) and 9 VDL regional associations / regional groups.

Supporting members are R + V Allgemeine Versicherung AG , Landwirtschaftliche Rentenbank , Deutsche Raiffeisenverband eV , Deutsche LandFrauenverband eV , ADM Hamburg AG , AgroBrain S.à.rl, RCC Agency for Integrated Communication GmbH and Adama Deutschland GmbH , Cheminova Deutschland GmbH & Co. Cooperations

The federal association is able to protect the socio-political and professional interests of its members through various partnerships. The cooperation partner is the dbb beamtenbund and tarifunion , the German management association ULA and the European Confederation of Agronomists Associations (CEDIA).
