The second edition of the COSAFA Cup , officially the COSAFA Castle Cup 1998 , took place from April 19 to September 27, 1998. Five teams from South Africa played here for the title of South African champion. Zambia won its second title. The preliminary round took place from January 10th to March 8th. For the first time Angola and South Africa took part in the tournament.
Game mode
The ten participating countries played against each other in the first round. The five winners qualified for the finals and played in a group stage for the title of South African champions.

The first round took place from January 10th to March 8th, 1998. Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Mozambique and Angola qualified for the finals in the first round.
