The ninth edition of the COSAFA-Cup , officially COSAFA Castle Cup 2005 , took place on August 13th and August 14th, 2005 in South Africa . Four teams from South Africa played for the title of South African champion. Zimbabwe won its third title. The preliminary round took place from February 26th to June 12th in Mauritius, Namibia and Zambia. The Seychelles took part for the first time.

Game mode

The defending champion Angola was automatically qualified for the final round of the tournament. The remaining 12 participants played in three groups, the winners of which qualified for the finals in Botswana. The group ranks were decided by holding a semi-final, the winners of which played a group final.

Preliminary round / qualification

Group A

The Group A games took place on February 26th and 27th, 2005 in Curepipe , Mauritius . South Africa was able to prevail against the island states of Seychelles, Mauritius and Madagascar.
