Langförden is a district of the Lower Saxony city of Vechta . Until the municipal reorganization in 1974, Langförden was a municipality . The Lower Saxony “Law for the reorganization of the city of Aschendorf and the municipalities of Langförden, Vörden and Mulsum” of March 28, 1990, which was supposed to restore the municipality of Langförden, did not come into force by order of the Federal Constitutional Court .

Geology and hydrogeology

Langförden is located in the North German Plain. The area around Langförden consists mainly of glazio-fluvial deposits, primarily loamy and sandy deposits from the Pleistocene. Boreholes showed that the uppermost sediment layers are about 5 to 7 m thick. Underlying this layer is a 10 m thick, loamy and muddy sediment layer. Sandy layers at a depth of 25 to 30 m form a productive aquifer for pumping groundwater. The top aquifer is at a depth of two to six meters.
