Carl von Altenbockum

Carl Ferdinand Ernst Eberhard Hans von Altenbockum (born May 19, 1842 in Kassel ; † October 25, 1910 ibid) was District Administrator in Rotenburg an der Fulda , Consistorial President in Kassel and Member of the Kassel Municipal Parliament .

Life

Origin and family

Karl Ferdinand Ernst came from the old noble family Altenbockum , which had expanded from Westphalia via the Duchy of Courland and Semgallia to Hesse. His father was Karl Ferdinand von Altenbockum (1768–1841), who was a major general in the service of the Electorate of Hesse , his mother was Ottilie, née von Carlowitz . Karl Ferdinand Ernst married Meta Rabe von Pappenheim (1847–1935), a daughter of Alfred Otto Rabe von Pappenheim, in Kassel in 1874 . The couple had several children:

career

Altenbockum received private tuition in his parents' house, after which he attended preschool and from 1853 went to a grammar school in Kassel. In 1855 he switched to the Roßleben monastery school and graduated from high school in 1861 . He then studied law at the Universities of Göttingen , Berlin and Marburg . In 1866 he passed the first legal state examination, the second legal examination followed in 1867. In 1867 he began a legal internship at the District Court I Kassel , which was followed by further preparatory services at different courts in Kassel. In 1870/71 he took part in the Franco-German War as a volunteer nurse and was awarded the Iron Cross, 2nd class, on a white ribbon.

In 1873 Altenbockum passed the Grand State Examination and began as a judge assessor at the district and district court of Kassel. In 1875 he received the post of magistrate in Amöneburg and in 1876 moved to the state administration of the Landdrostei Osnabrück as a government assessor . Before he became provisional administrator of the Rotenburg an der Fulda district office in 1879 , he was entrusted with the management of the Marburg district office , and in the same year he was transferred to the state government in Kassel. In 1880 he took over the provisional administration of the Rotenburg district office and was appointed district administrator of the Rotenburg district on July 1, 1889. From 1887 to 1891 he was a member of the Hessian municipal council of the Prussian government district of Kassel , there in 1887 a member of the organizing committee and 1890-1891 a member of the main committee. He was co-head of the royal monastery in Rotenburg and in 1892 became a senior councilor and director of the department for church and school affairs in the government in Kassel. On October 29, 1894, he became Consistorial President of the Consistory in Kassel. In 1908 he was retired .

For his services Altenbockum was awarded the Red Eagle Order II. Class with Oak Leaves and the Crown Order II. Class.
