Carsen Germyn (born February 22, 1982 in Campbell River , British Columbia ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who was last under contract with the Straubing Tigers from the German Ice Hockey League .
Career
Carsen Germyn played five years in the Western Hockey League from 1998 to 2003 . First he was active for the Kelowna Rockets , during the 2001/02 season , the striker moved to the Red Deer Rebels . With the Rebels he reached the play-off finals in 2002 and 2003. For the 2003/04 season , Germyn was committed by the Norfolk Admirals from the American Hockey League . In July 2004, the Calgary Flames from the National Hockey League took the winger under contract. Germyn spent the 2004/05 season with the Lowell Lock Monsters , who served as the Flames' farm team that season. The following two seasons he was in the squad of the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights , also completed the right-handed shooter in 2005/06 and 2006/07 two games for the Calgary Flames in the NHL.
The Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights franchise only existed from 2005 to 2007, Germyn played there for both years and scored the most goals, assists and scorer points in the Knights' short history. The winger followed the franchise's move to the Quad City Flames , who, like before, played the Knights in the AHL. At Quad City, Germyn played for two years from 2007 to 2009, until the franchise moved again and was renamed Abbotsford Heat . In Quad City's two-year history, Germyn is the overall leader in submission and scorer point statistics. In the 2009/10 season the Canadians for the Abbotsford Heat was active before the EHC Olten in the Swiss National League B changed. Germyn reached 51 points in 46 season games in the 2010/11 season. In June 2011 the striker moved to the Straubing Tigers from the German Ice Hockey League , and the existing contract with EHC Olten was terminated. In order to save salary costs, the DEL club loaned him to AIK Solna shortly before the end of the 2013/14 season , where he played in the Svenska Hockeyligan until the end of the season.
On October 10, 2014, Germyn suffered a concussion in the game against the Augsburg Panthers . Due to the serious injury and the fact that it was already his fourth concussion, Carsen Germyn ended his ice hockey career in 2015.
