Carsten Sebastian Henn
Carsten Sebastian Henn (born October 29, 1973 in Cologne ) is a German author , playwright and journalist .
Life
Henn attended the Albert-Schweitzer-Gymnasium (Hürth) , graduated from high school there in 1993 and then began studying at the University of Cologne . In 1996 he was the youngest author in the anthology Young West , which provides an overview of contemporary literature in North Rhine-Westphalia . After completing his master's degree in ethnology , sociology and geography , he studied ethnology and viticulture in Adelaide / Australia in 1997 . Until 2008 he was employed in the administration of his hometown Hürth , since then he has concentrated on his writing and journalistic work.
As a freelance wine journalist, Henn writes for national and international magazines and sits on the juries of several wine awards. He has been with the Gault-Millau WeinGuide since 2002 , initially as responsible for the Nahe wine-growing region and since 2014 as editor-in-chief. Since 2013 he has been the restaurant critic of the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger . He has been editor-in-chief of the wine magazine Vinum since 2018 .
Carsten Sebastian Henn writes novels (mainly detective novels ), as well as non-fiction books on the topics of wine and cuisine . He publishes poetry and stories in magazines (eg "Das Gedicht") and anthologies (among others by Rowohlt , Wunderlich and dtv ). His debut novel was the erotic story Julia, Clicked (2000). In May 2002, followed by In vino veritas , the first volume of " culinary -vinophilen" crime cycle by the Ahrtaler chef and amateur detective Julius Eichendorff that there as a descendant of the famous German poet Joseph von Eichendorff occurs. This cycle comprised seven volumes up to 2014, which were also published as audio books, read by Jürgen von der Lippe . In 2007, the short story volume Henkerstropfen was published with 23 culinary short crime novels . Chef Dieter Müller wrote the foreword . A second crime series began in 2008 with Tod & Trüffel - a dog crime novel from Piedmont that revolves around Niccolò, an Italian greyhound , and the old truffle dog Giacomo, a Lagotto Romagnolo .
Henn lives in Hürth. He is a member of the "Fédération Internationale des Journalists et Ecrivains des Vins et Spiritueux" (FIJEV) and of the Association of German Writers (VS) in ver.di, Cologne district. With friends, he runs a steep vineyard in the St. Aldegunder Himmelreich (Mosel) area and grows his own wine, a Riesling , there.
