Cascadura is a district (bairro) of Rio de Janeiro . The name is Portuguese for "hard shell". It comes from the time when the tracks for the railway line were laid: the soil in this region is extremely hard and therefore difficult to work. Another origin of meaning derives from Casca d''Ouro.
Cascadura is located in the XV Madureira administrative region of the Zona Norte sub-prefecture.
