Cezar

Cezar (complete: Florin Cezar Ouatu ; born February 18, 1980 in Ploieşti ) is a Romanian countertenor .

Life

Cezar was born the son of the professor at the Mozarteum , Florin Ouatu. He came into contact with the piano through his father as a child. He then attended the “Carmen Sylva School of Arts” in Ploiesti, and from 2001 to 2004 the Italian music school Conservatorio di musica “Giuseppe Verdi” di Milano in Milan, where he studied baroque music .

Career

He made his stage debut in 2003 at the renowned Teatro La Fenice and in 2003 won the Francisco Viñas International Singing Contest as "Best Countertenor". He then appeared on European stages as a countertenor at the Potsdam Music Festival and the Lausanne Opera as Nireno in Giulio Cesare . Further appearances followed on the stages in Barcelona , Dresden , Milan , Monaco and San Marino , where he received several awards. In October 2011 he graced the cover of Das Opernglas magazine , which devoted several pages to him for an interview. On May 25, 2013 he performed together with Andrea Bocelli at his concert in Romexpo .

He took part in the Selecția Națională 2013 , the Romanian preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 and was able to prevail against 31 competitors with the opera pop song It's my Life and represented his country in the competition in Malmö . There he reached the 13th place in the final with 65 points.
