Luminița Anghel

Luminița Anghel [ lumiˈnit͡sa ˈaŋɡel ] (born October 7, 1968 in Bucharest ) is a Romanian singer and politician .

Live and act

She graduated from the Școala Populară de Artă, specializing in singing, and graduated from Spiru Haret University with a degree in sociology and psychology .

In 1993 Anghel won first prize in the “Mamaia” singing competition, and in 1995 and 1996 she was third. At the international Golden Stag Festival in Brașov in 2001 she won first prize and the trophy for best international singing. She also took first places at the Discovery Festival in Bulgaria and the Voice of Asia competition in Kazakhstan .

Eurovision Song Contest

She represented Romania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 in Kiev, Ukraine with the song "Let me try", which she performed with the group Sistem , and reached third place in the final after having won the semifinals before. However, she took part in the Romanian pre-selection in 1994, 1996, 1998, 2000 and 2002, but could not qualify for the final round. In 2010 she performed again, this time with Tony Tomas, Adrian Piper and the song "Save their lives". It reached second place. In 2013 she again took part in the preliminary round for Romania with her song Unique , but dropped out.

politics

In the parliamentary elections in 2008 , she ran for the Social Democratic Party in Bucharest , but was not elected to the Chamber of Deputies .
