Charline Kyra C. Mathias (born May 23, 1992 ) is a Luxembourgish athlete who competes in the middle distance run .

Athletic career

Charline Mathias gained her first experience at an international championship at the Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE) in Luxembourg in 2009 , where she won the gold medal and bronze over 800 meters with the Luxembourg 4 x 400 meter relay. At the youth world championships in Brixen , she came over 800 meters to the semi-finals. At the European Youth Olympic Festival she was sixth, as well as with the relay at the Games of the Francophonie in Beirut . In 2010 she was eliminated in the first round of the 800 meters at the Junior World Championships in Moncton, Canada .

In 2013 she won silver at the GSSE in Luxembourg over 400 meters, 800 meters and with the Luxembourg relay. At the U23 European Championships in Tampere she was eliminated over 800 meters in the preliminary round, as well as in the games of the Francophonie in Nice over 400 meters. With the season she finished fifth there. In 2014 she qualified for the European Championships in Zurich , where over 800 were eliminated in the preliminary stages. In 2015 she won the gold medal over 800 meters at the GSSE in Reykjavík and qualified for the World Championships in Beijing , where she was eliminated in the first round over 800 meters . In 2016 she qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she was eliminated again over 800 meters in the preliminary round. In 2017 she took part in the 800-meter European Indoor Championships in Belgrade , where she made it to the semi-finals. At the GSSE in Serravalle she won the gold medal over 1500 meters. A few weeks later she took part in the World Student Games in Taipei , where she finished eighth over 1500 meters and was eliminated over 800 meters in the semi-finals.

So far she has twice been Luxembourg champion over 800 and 1500 meters and five times indoor champion. She is a student at the Catholic University in Lille .
