Career

De Leo comes from La Mirada , a suburb of the Los Angeles metropolis , and played there in the junior division between 2009 and 2011 for the Los Angeles Selects . Via the WHL Bantam Draft in 2010, the Portland Winterhawks from the Western Hockey League had finally received the rights to De Leo's person and brought him into their squad for the 2011/12 season . In the team, which is always considered a title contender, the center improved its point yield from year to year and won the Ed Chynoweth Cup , the championship trophy of the WHL , in the 2012/13 season . In the subsequent Memorial Cup , the team failed only in the final against the Halifax Mooseheads .

During his four years in Portland, De Leo was selected in the fourth round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft in 99th place by the Winnipeg Jets . They signed him after completing his junior career in June 2015. During the 2015/16 season he was with Winnipeg's farm team , the Manitoba Moose , from the American Hockey League , where he met Eric Comrie . He had already played with the goalkeeper at the Los Angeles Selects . Over the course of the season, the striker also made his National Hockey League debut for the Jets and made two appearances in March 2016. He spent the following two playing years completely with the Moose in the AHL, before he was given to the Anaheim Ducks and their farm team San Diego Gulls in June 2018 in exchange for Nic Kerdiles .
