Eric Comrie was born in Edmonton, but moved with his family to California , Greater Los Angeles, at the age of nine . There he played in his youth for the Los Angeles Selects , among others , before he was selected in 2010 in the Bantam Draft of the Western Hockey League (WHL) by the Tri-City Americans in 13th position. After a playoff appearance at the end of the 2010/11 season, Comrie moved firmly to the Americans' squad at the start of the 2011/12 season. As a rookie , he played 31 games and scored an average of 2.67 goals against and a capture rate of 90.0%. In particular, he significantly increased his catch quota in his following draft year to 91.5%, so that the Central Scouting Service of the National Hockey League (NHL) rated him second among the North American goalkeepers and then 59 in the actual NHL Entry Draft 2013 . Position was chosen by the Winnipeg Jets . Then Comrie returned to the WHL and led the league in the 2013/14 season with a catch rate of 92.5%, as a result of which he was appointed to the Second All-Star Team of the league's Western Conference. The Jets had already given him an entry-level contract in December 2013 , so that the Canadian made his professional debut with the Jets farm team , the St. John's IceCaps , in the American Hockey League (AHL) at the end of the season . For the 2014/15 season Comrie returned to the Americans in the WHL for a final year and was re-elected to the Second All-Star Team before finally switching to the organization of the Jets in the summer of 2015.

From then on he acted as the goalkeeper of the new AHL farm team, the Manitoba Moose , and in his first full professional season in 46 appearances he scored 3.12 goals against and a catch rate of 90.7%. After another year in the AHL, Comrie was first called into the NHL squad of the Winnipeg Jets in April 2017 and subsequently made his debut there. This was followed by sporadic missions in the coming seasons before he left the Jets in October 2019 after more than four years when he was signed by the Arizona Coyotes via the waiver . There, in turn, he played four AHL games for the Tucson Roadrunners before the Coyotes handed him over to the Detroit Red Wings in late November and in return received the Finnish defender Vili Saarijärvi . He played three games for Detroit before he found himself on the waiver again a little later and returned to Winnipeg via this.

International

Comrie already represented his home province Alberta at the Canada Games in 2011, made five appearances and won the bronze medal with the regional selection. He was then part of the Canada Pacific team at the turn of the year 2011/12 , which finished fifth in the 2012 World U-17 Hockey Challenge . The following summer of 2012, the Canadian won the gold medal at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament 2012 , as well as almost three and a half years later at the U20 World Cup in 2015 .

With the senior national team of Canada , Comrie won the silver medal at the 2017 World Cup , but remained without a commitment.
