Christopher Ryan Armstrong (born June 26, 1975 in Regina , Saskatchewan ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who was last under contract with the Springfield Falcons in the American Hockey League .
Career
Chris Armstrong was selected in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft by the Florida Panthers in the third round in 57th place, but never played a game for the Panthers. The Nashville Predators secured the service of Armstrong in the 1998 NHL Expansion Draft , who signed in 1999 as a free agent with the San Jose Sharks . Here, too, the defender never made the leap into the NHL squad.
In the 2000 NHL Expansion Draft , the Canadian was chosen by the newly formed Minnesota Wild, as they had to fill their squad with players. After a few seasons in the IHL and AHL Armstrong made it into the NHL for three games, where he ran up for the wild. In 2001, the left shooter was given to the New York Islanders , but where he did not play an NHL game. After a stay in Europe with EV Zug and the Augsburger Panthers , the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim secured the rights to Armstrong, who subsequently ran for five games for the franchise .
During the lockout in 2004/05 , the Canadian played for ERC Ingolstadt from the German Ice Hockey League , where he stayed in North America even after the strike was over. For the 2006/07 season , the defender signed a contract with league rivals Frankfurt Lions . In the following three seasons he went on the ice for the Lions and completed over 160 DEL games for them, in which he scored 78 points. In December 2009 he signed a contract as a free agent with the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League.
